Formed in 2002, the Allen Parks Foundation is a charitable organization whose primary purpose is to further enhance Allen’s great park system and recreation facilities, expand development of parks and recreational programming, and accept land bequests and other donations by partnering with the City of Allen, other governmental partners, local organizations and groups. The Allen Parks Foundation supports and improves the recreational opportunities in the Park system which enhances the community and the citizens’ quality of life.

In accordance with our mission, the Allen Parks Foundation has successfully secured charitable contributions from various corporations and other entities for use in enhancing the parks and recreation system. We are currently raising funds to assist with the development of a trail marking and “wayfinding” system for Allen’s trails. These systems include a pavement marking system that provides distance markers and trail nomenclature for each trail. In addition, a trail wayfinding system is being installed that will provide trail names, locations, and directions for trail users.

Other initiatives include “kidMania”, the largest handicap-accessible playground in the State of Texas located in Celebration Park; a successful Park Ambassador program that helps keep City trails and parks safe and in good condition for the community; and a “Tool Trailer” which can be used by any local organization for the enhancement of public spaces.

Tailgate Throwdown!

Capturing the spirit of Texas tailgates and football season, the Allen Parks Foundation will be holding its annual fundraiser, aptly named “Tailgate Throwdown,” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 16 and it will be held at Alliance Cheer Elite.  Funds raised during this event will be used to continue the foundation’s mission of enhancing Allen’s park system.  Alliance Cheer Elite is located at 718 S. Greenville Ave. in Allen.

The evening will be filled with entertainment and food & drinks provided by local partners such as DJP Creative, Andrew’s Distributing, Kelly Family Farms (grass fed beef), and Experimental Table (Chef George Brown).

To help bring that familiar tailgate excitement to Allen, attendees can choose to participate in several tailgate themed games and activities, and compete for a top spot on the night’s leaderboard. Guests are encouraged to dress casually, don their favorite team’s gear, and flex their fandom throughout the event.

Attendees of last year’s fundraiser will already be familiar with the fun and unique atmosphere the Parks Foundation brings to its fundraising events.

Tickets to the event are available on-line through the Allen Parks Foundation website. Ticket prices are $90 per single / $175 per couple before September 3, and $100 each after September 3. Park Ambassadors will be offered specially priced tickets at $80 each. **Please note that this event is for adults age 21 and over.**
